Therapist and Coach based in Santa Rosa, CA

I’M ROSA, A LICENSED THERAPIST, FACILITATOR AND COACH

I help individuals and groups understand their patterns, navigate change and build lives that are aligned to their values and connected to their communities.

CREDENTIALS AND BACKGROUND EXPERIENCE:

I hold a Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology from the University of San Francisco and am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) in California.

I completed the Level 1 Inner Compass Academy certificate in depth psychology and coaching, which further informs my integrative approach.  My professional path has included work across a range of settings before transitioning fully into private practice, each offering hands-on experience that continues to shape how I work today.  I have worked extensively in the nonprofit sector with at-risk teens in residential treatment, as well as with adults navigating court-mandated therapy and substance use treatment.  I served as Program Director for the El Puente Program at LifeWorks of Sonoma County, where I provided in-home therapy and psychoeducation for at-risk teens and their families.  These experiences deepened my understanding of how patterns develop within individuals, families and systems–and how meaningful change often requires both insight and practical support.  I currently serve on the Board of Directors for the Zane Templin Foundation, continuing my commitment to community-based mental health and prevention work.

The truth is: I didn’t come into this work with a clear plan or a “lifelong calling”.

Before becoming a therapist and coach, I spent years trying to understand why some people—myself included—could look “put together” on the outside while feeling untethered inside.  In my teens and young adulthood, I wrestled with high-functioning anxiety and codependency.  Patterns of overdoing, overthinking, and losing myself in what others needed.  Those experiences shaped not only my empathy but my curiosity about how we actually heal beneath the surface.

In the most recent chapter of my growth, life has continued to teach me.  Navigating an autoimmune diagnosis, a divorce and grief has deepened my understanding of resilience and surrender.  These experiences also brought me face-to-face with failure, imperfection, and the humbling process of starting over.

Midlife, I’ve learned, isn’t a crisis—it’s an initiation.

It asks us to release who we thought we were supposed to be and make peace with the parts of ourselves we once rejected.  I’ve stumbled, made mistakes, and learned that healing isn’t about perfection, it’s about honest acceptance, and beginning again.

That process led me to the teachings of depth psychology and evolutionary astrology.  Both of which offered language for what I’d felt but couldn’t articulate:  that our struggles are often invitations, that cycles of loss and renewal are part of how the psyche grows.  These studies, along with mindfulness and nature-based work have transformed how I live and how I work to help others.  Over time, I came to see how healing isn’t limited to awareness; it also lives in how we move, eat, rest and tend to our bodies.  Exploring the connection between emotional health and lifestyle, I began integrating elements of wellness, nutrition, and movement into my coaching and group work.  These practices aren’t about perfection, they’re about remembering what balance feels like.

Now I bring that integration forward. Blending clinical skill with intuitive insight, psychological understanding with the wisdom of rhythm and nature.

My goal is to help others not just understand themselves but feel deeply connected to their inner life and the larger patterns of meaning that hold it all together.

THE APPROACH:

Nature, Rhythm, and Meaning

The natural world has always been one of my greatest teachers.  It reminds us that growth doesn’t happen all at once—it unfolds in cycles.  There are seasons of expansion and seasons of rest; moments to plant, to tend, and to let go.  When we align with those rhythms, life feels less like a race to control and more like a relationship with change itself.

Spirituality and the Stars:

I want my community to always feel like they can bring their spirituality and higher sense of something into this work. I’m currently diving deep into astrology and enjoy bringing it into my own personal development work. For you, whether it’s astrology, spirituality or other faith-based religions… you are welcome here.

Depth Psychology

Depth psychology teaches that healing and growth begin when we turn inward with curiosity.  It’s about integration—making space for the parts of ourselves we’ve ignored, outgrown, or misunderstood.  Intuition, and creative imagination often become allies in this process.  When we bring awareness to what’s unconscious, we reclaim energy and choice.

As Carl Jung wrote, “Until you make the unconscious conscious, it will direct your life and you will call it fate.”  Our work is about rewriting that relationship with fate—from being driven by what’s hidden to living in dialogue with it.
